Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends an athletic scholarship to his family with service to the community. At first his parents raised him by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, who lived on their Eufala farm. He was the smallest of nine children. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in national by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. In his three years as Oklahoma's main linebacker, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two championships. Selmon received a third scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week in volunteer projects. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 among America's best young men. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighted 256 lbs. He played for his school's team in 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
